Date Ideas for Active Couples this Valentine’s Day

Date Ideas for Active Couples this Valentine’s Day

By Brian Acton

When the nation is still fully immersed in a pandemic, it can be tough to think of romantic Valentine’s Day date ideas. This is especially true if you and your partner have been stuck together at home for most of the last twelve months.

Consider doing something active with your partner this Valentine’s Day to get your body moving and mix things up. Here are three active date ideas for Valentine’s Day.

  1. Visit a Park You’ve Never Seen

Sure, you could walk around your neighborhood or go to the local park you’ve visited a thousand times. But to make your Valentine’s Day special, consider visiting a park or outdoor space you’ve never seen before. Walking or hiking in a new setting, especially a picturesque one, will be a great way to mix things up, get some exercise, and spark a new experience with your partner.

Whether you want to go visit a spot in the city or witness some natural scenic beauty (my wife and I are excited to visit New River Gorge, the country’s newest national park), consider just being in a new outdoor setting as a couple.

  1. Take a Group or Couples Exercise Class

Want a new way to break a sweat, stretch your muscles, or challenge yourself physically with your Valentine’s Day date? Try signing up for a group class at your local yoga spot, CrossFit gym, kickboxing studio or whatever local exercise establishment appeals to you both. Many group classes have COVID-19 protocols in place to prevent virus transmission and keep visitors safely distanced.

It’s a good way to support a local business, maybe make some new friends, and work out with your partner. If you want to up the romance, look for a couples dance class so you can learn how to cut a rug together.

Still staying home and minimizing your exposure to the public? You can bring the exercise class to you. Look for virtual exercise classes and home workouts on YouTube, DVD, or via paid home subscriptions.

  1. Snow Sports
Will there likely be snow on the ground in your area on Valentine’s Day? Snow sports are a blast and a great way to get the blood pumping. You could go sledding, tubing, skiing, or ice skating, depending on the resources in your area. Getting some intense outdoor exercise in the snow will help make things even cozier when it’s time to cuddle up indoors.
